Princeton Man Critical After Being Run Over by a Tractor-Trailer in Edison

Edison

A 30-year-old Princeton man tried to take a shortcut and cut through by going under a parked tractor-trailer but instead got run over Tuesday.

According to authorities, the Princeton man and a friend were walking back to the Global Inn just before 9:30 p.m. when he decided to go underneath a tractor-trailer that was refueling at a Raceway gas station while his friend walked around.

Officials say almost simultaneously, the tractor-trailer began moving and ran him over with its rear tires and dragged him approximately 10 feet.

Police say the Michigan driver, who was unaware with what had occurred, continued but was ultimately located hours later in Philadelphia. The driver returned to Edison and is cooperating with the investigation.

EMS transported the man to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where remains in the intensive care unit.
