87-Year-Old Woman Reportedly Attacked, Robbed in Jersey City

A Jersey City woman who often walked to and from church alone is now afraid to go out at all after she was reportedly attacked by two men Saturday.

According to Ana Lagundi, of Jersey City, on Saturday she was walking home sometime around 6:30 p.m. after evening Mass at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, when she was viciously attacked by two men on Gates Avenue near McGovern Park.

Lagundi claims the assailants pushed her, punched her in the face multiple times and ultimately knocked her to the ground, where they snatched her purse.

The victim suffered a black and swollen eye, swollen lip and was left with bruises on her hand.

The incident is reportedly under investigation.
