Father Critical After Son Stabs Him Multiple Times in Newark

Authorities in Newark are investgiating a domestic violence assault that has a father fighting for his life after the man's son went on the attack with a knife early Wednesday morning.

According to preliminary reports, police were called to a home in the 200 block of Fairmount Avenue at approximately 2 a.m. when they received reports of a person stabbed at that location.

Upon arrival, they found an adult male suffering life-threatening injuries after being stabbed multiple times to his torso according to reports. The victim was rushed to University Hospital where doctors began to treat his wounds.

Police set up a perimeter around the home when the suspect initially would not come out of the house and surrender to police.

Officers finally arrested the man who they identified as the victim's son then had EMS transport him to University Hospital Crisis department according to reports.

The motive for the stabbing is under investigation.
