23-Year-Old Man Injured in Construction Accident in Harrison

Hudson County authorities are investigating a worksite accident that left a man seriously injured in Harrison on Friday morning.

According to a statement released to RLS Metro Breaking News from Harrison Police officials, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Harrison Police responded to 700 Frank E. Rogers Boulevard South after receiving reports of an injured person at an active construction site on the Hartz Mountain Property.

Police and EMS arrived at the scene and found an employee of Ironstate Works suffering severed injuries after he apparently fell four stories to the main floor according to police.

Harrison Police officials said the unidentified male was impaled on a piece of rebar that was protruding from the concrete during the fall.

Officials say medical officials arrived and found that the rebar pierced the man's hip from the front to back

The Harrison and Kearny Fire Departments swiftly cut the rebar from the ground to release the worker according to the statement issued by Harrison Police.

The victim, a 23-year-old male, was transported to University Hospital where doctors immediately began surgery.

The exact cause of the accident is under investigation by the property authorities Harrison Police officials said.
