There is a large police contingency on the scene of a man barricaded in a vehicle who is reportedly armed with weapons in Newark’s South Ward at this time.
Details are still developing but according to preliminary reports from on the scene, the suspects locked himself in a vehicle in the area of Bergen and Lyons Avenue after gunfire rang it in the area.
There are unconfirmed reports of police firing their weapons and a person injured.
Police have the area sealed off as they attempt to get the suspect to surrender peacefully.
Please avoid the area for the investigation.
UPDATE 6:40PM Suspect in the car dead from apparent gunshot wound. One other person wounded.
