Maplewood Woman Confronts Home Burglary Suspect

The Maplewood Police Department is currently investigating a number of overnight burglaries that occurred in the Golf Island area of town (near Maplewood Middle School).

According to a statement released by Chief Jimmy DeVaul, during one of the burglaries that occurred on Maple Avenue, a homeowner confronted the suspect in his dining room at approximately 1:15 a.m. on August 11th.

Chief DeVaul said once the suspect was confronted, he fled the home south bound on Salter Place and then into a backyard toward Burnett Street.

During a canvass, Detectives located an image of a person of interest in the area Chief DeVaul said

”At this time, detectives are currently canvassing the area and continuing the investigation”.

Extra police presence is being provided to the area and residents are encouraged to contact the Police if any suspicious persons or activity are observed.
