Newark Man Gets Life in Prison for Jersey City Murder

Jersey City Newark

A 32-year-old Newark man was sentenced to life in prison Friday for the 2015 fatal shooting of Karl Revis.

According to authorities, Ibn Bailey was found guilty of shooting Karl Revis on March 25, 2015. In addition, Bailey was convicted on two weapons offenses, but was acquitted of felony murder and armed robbery.

Officials during trial said that Bailey told investigators that he and Revis met on Pacific Avenue in Jersey City for a drug deal. However Assistant Prosecutors determined that the two met for a sexual encounter based on text messages and security video that showed them entering the victim's East Orange home the day of the shooting.

According to authorities, Revis was found dead inside his still running car on Pacific Avenue in Jersey City on the night of the homicide.

Officials added that Bailey was also sentenced to seven years in prison for unlawful possession of a weapon, which will run concurrent to his life sentence.

According to authorities, Bailey will not be eligible for parole until 2078.
