Police in Jersey City took a man into custody and charged him with destroying a church monument on Friday afternoon.
According to a statement released by police, it took less than 24 hours after the Jersey City Police Department began looking for the actor involved in damaging a religious monument in front of Our Lady of Victories Church, police officers located and arrested 38-year-old Juan Matos of North Bergen.
Police say they spotted Matos in the area of the church and quickly apprehended him.
Police charged Matos with Criminal Mischief and Desecration of Venerated Objects.
According to police, Mr. Matos is not charged with a hate crime or biased incident.
Police say Matos has no outstanding warrants.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
