Suspect Sought After Assault in Newark’s West Ward

A warrant has been issued for the arrest 40-year-old Rasheed W. Cotton, for an aggravated assault that occurred on November 11th, in Newark.

According to police, at approximately 8:15 a.m., police responded to a West Ward residence on a call of an aggravated assault.  Police they found a victim stabbed following an argument with a man he knows.

The victim was transported to University Hospital, where doctors treated him for his injuries then released him.

Detectives developed sufficient evidence to identify Rasheed W. Cotton as a suspect in this incident and obtained a warrant for his arrest on charges of Aggravated Assault.

While police are actively searching for Cotton, they seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing him from the streets.

Police described Cotton as a male approximately 5’5” tall and weighs about 135 lbs. He has black hair, brown eyes, and a tattoo of a tear drop under his left eye.
