Violent Saturday Shootings Leave Seven Shot, Three Dead in Newark

A violent 24-hour time span where gunfire struck seven people, killing three of them, has city and county investigators searching for suspects in Newark.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office are looking into at least three of the shooting that ended with the victims succumbing to their injuries after the shooting.

According to police, all five of Newark wards had at least one person shot and injured during the senseless shooting incidents.

This is RLS Metro Breaking News timeline for the Friday into Saturday shootings:

**Friday**, October 27th at around 11:30 p.m., gunfire rang out in the city's (South Ward) striking and killing Mr. Robert G. Morgan, 30, of Newark. A 22-year-old man suffered non-fatal injuries after being shot during the incident.

**Saturday**, October 28th, at around 1 p.m. a male struck by bullets drove to the Market Street (East Ward) police precinct and told police that gunfire hit him at the Riverview Terrace Housing Complex. His injuries reported as non-fatal.

**Saturday**, October 28th at around 5:15 p.m., a double shooting that occurred in the vicinity of Springfield Avenue in Bergen Street (Central Ward) had police locate one person inside a car injured by gunfire and a second person suffering life-threatening injuries after he was struck multiple times by gunfire at a nearby Autozone store.

**Saturday**, October 28th at around 9 p.m. reports of shots fired sent police to the 30's block of North 12th Street (North Ward) where they found a male suffering a life-threatening gunshot wound. Authorities confirmed that the man died at around 9:37 p.m.

**Saturday**, October 28th at around 10:21 p.m. police and EMS rushed to the area of South 17th Street and 15th Avenue (West Ward) after they received reports of shots fired at that location. Police arrived to find an unconscious and unresponsive male suffering gunshot wounds. The male was later pronounced dead.

**Saturday**, October 28th at around 2:36 a.m. We could **NOT** obtain confirmation on injuries after a male drove his car in the 200 block of West Kinney Street (Central Ward) and was reportedly struck by random gunfire after suspects exchanged gunshots in the area. The man reportedly drove to University Hospital where he spoke with police.

The motives for the shootings remain under investigation by the Essex County Prosecutor's Office and Newark Police.
