The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office are continuing to investigate an incident where two people were found dead while three others were inside an apartment building in Jersey City.
According to authorities, shortly before 5 a.m., emergency responders were called to a building at the corner of Hudson Street and 2nd Street after receiving reports of suspicious activities inside an apartment.
Arriving rescue crews entered an apartment and found five unconscious victims at that location.
UPDATED 12:20pm On July 30, 2017, at approximately 4:45 a.m., Jersey City Police Officers responded to 2 2nd Street in Jersey City on a call for assistance.
Upon arrival, officers were met by Emergency Medical Services who reported finding five unconscious males at that location.
The responding Police Officers found two of the five unconscious individuals were dead of apparent drug overdoses.
The deceased have been identified as Anoj Malhotra, 33, and Rishi Patel, 32.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 5:25 a.m.
The cause and manner of their deaths are pending an investigation by the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
The additional three male victims were transported to Jersey City Medical Center by EMS.
Although the investigation is ongoing, this appears to be an isolated incident and there should be no concern to the public.
The Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit is investigating this case with the assistance of the Jersey City Police Department.

Authorities said EMS rushed the victims to Jersey City Medical Center where two of the victims were later pronounced dead.
The other three victims are in serious to stable conditions.
The incident remains under investigation.
