Camden County Prosecutor's Office Seeking Registered Nurses

Camden County

Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo announced the office is seeking registered nurses to be trained as forensic nurse examiners certified in sexual assault.

These nurses will respond to victims of sexual assault and play a key role in providing understanding to those who are the victims of sexual assault, as well as collecting evidence necessary for criminal prosecutions. The positions are per diem and require 40 hours per month of on-call time.

Interviews for the nurse positions are currently being conducted by the Forensic Nurse Examiner Coordinator of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.

All applicants must be registered nurses with at least two years of recent clinical experience and be available to complete the Basic Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) Course for certification through the New Jersey Board of Nursing.

Once certified, a nurse can apply to work as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, responding to hospitals where victims have reported assaults. SANE nurses, working with County Prosecutor’s Offices, respond to designated hospitals to assist sexual assault victims and police. They work as part of the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), which includes law enforcement officers and representatives from Services Empowering Rape Victims (SERV), the state-designated sexual trauma services provider for Camden County.

Those who would like to be considered for the Basic SANE Course for certification and employment should send their resumes to SART/FNE Coordinator Theresa McLaughlin by email at mclaughlint@ccprosecutor.org or by fax at (856) 580-6050.
