Newark – The Essex County Sheriff’s Armando Fontoura’s Crimestoppers Program is offering up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest or conviction in connection with the death of William M. Hyder, 56, of Newark who sustained fatal injuries on Nov. 21.
According to authorities, at approximately 9 p.m. Mr. Hyder, who has lived in the city for 30 years, left his home to go to a Newark pharmacy located at 199 Stuyvesant Avenue.
Hyder returned about an hour later, banged on the door then stumbled into the house after suffering from severe injuries.
He reported to his family that he had been robbed.
Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene where they transported Hyder to University Hospital. He died on Dec. 6. authorities said.
The case is being investigated by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
