Teen Arrested for Newark Armed Robbery

Newark

Members of the Department’s Fugitive Apprehension Team (F.A.T.) arrested a 16-year-old Newark youth early this morning for robbery.

According to authorities, the teenager robbed a 43-year-old Newark resident at gunpoint on Leslie Street on March 31st. The victim was not harmed during the incident.

According to Public Safety Director Ambrose, their tireless and dedicated efforts helped Robbery Squad detectives quickly identify the youth as the gunman and obtain a warrant.

Police said the suspect was located early this morning at his Schley Street residence where F.A.T. detectives arrested him without incident.

Director Ambrose said, “The detectives in both units are doing excellent work in identifying suspects and quickly arresting them. This gets suspects off the streets and lands them where they can’t continue their unlawful activities.”
