Police took a male suspect into custody after he attempted to flee the scene of a multi-vehicle crash that happened a short time ago in the city according to eyewitnesses.
Emergency responders were called to the area of Roseville Avenue at 3rd Avenue West a little after 6:30 p.m. on reports of a crash with injuries.
Arriving crews located about 4 vehicles involved in the crash which caused one of the vehicle's to overturn onto it's side.
About a half dozen victims were transported to the hospital suffering non-life threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by Newark Police.
