Guide to Fourth of July Fireworks, Festivities Around Union County

With Fourth of July around the corner, Union County towns are ready to celebrate with numerous family-friendly events.

Clark:

Clark will hold their annual fireworks display on Friday, July 4, 2014 at Arthur L. Johnson Regional High School located at 365 Westfield Avenue. The show begins sometime between 8:30

Cranford:

On Friday, July 4, 2014 the celebration begins with a canoe race at 8:00 a.m. at the Cranford Canoe Club. A Firecracker 4-Mile Run at Nomahegan Park at 8:30 a.m. Family games are scheduled from 2 till 10 p.m. Fireworks will begin at 9:05 p.m.

Florham Park:

Florham Park will present a fireworks show on Friday, July 4, 2014 at about 9:00 p.m. The show is being staged at Firehouses 1 located at 325 Brooklake Rd.

Kenilworth:

Kenilworth will stage a fireworks display on Sunday, June 29 at David Brearley MS/HS field.  The fireworks should start at dusk. Rain date is scheduled for July 6.

Maplewood:

Maplewood will celebrate the holiday starting at 9:00 a.m. on July 4 with a day filled with activities for the whole family at Memorial Park on Valley Street. Live Music is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. followed by fireworks at 9 p.m. sharp.

Mountainside:

Mountainside will present a fireworks show on Friday, July 4, 2014 at about 9:00 p.m. The show is being staged at the fields behind our Lady of Lourdes and Deerfield School.

New Providence:

The New Providence 2014 Independence Day festivities will be held on South Street on Thursday, July 3, 2014. The celebration features fun for the whole family like: sidewalk chalk art for kids of all sizes and ages, music, juggler and more. The fireworks will be staged on South Street at about 9:30 p.m. South Street from Gales Drive to Springfield Avenue will be closed starting at 7:00 p.m.

Plainfield:

Plainfield will host a parade, concert and fireworks to celebrate the 4th on July 5, 20104. The 91st Annual Veteran’s Parade will begin on East Front Street. The fireworks will be staged at Cedarbrook Park at dusk or about 9:30 p.m.

Rahway:

The city of Rahway has their fireworks display scheduled for July 4 at the Rahway River Park scheduled to begin at 9:00 pm

Roselle Park:

Roselle Park will stage a fireworks display on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Roselle Park High School. The fireworks should start at 9:00 p.m.

Springfield:

Springfield will celebrate Independence Day on Friday, July 4. The community event is expected to begin at 5:00 p.m. at the Meisel Field, followed by a concert at 7:30 p.m. The event will come to a big finish with a fireworks display at dusk staged by Garden State Fireworks Company of Millington.

Summit:

Summit celebrates the 4th of July with a full day of activities that include a parade, kid’s concerts, a carnival, a concert and a fireworks display.  The day begins with a flag raising ceremony at 9:45 a.m, and an evening concert by the Cameos at 7:45 p.m. The fireworks display begins at 9:15 p.m. at Soldier’s Memorial Field.

Union Township:

Union Township will celebrate the holiday starting at 10:00 a.m. on July 4 with the 7th Annual All American Soapbox Derby. It will be held on Stuyvesant Avenue between Mountain & Tyler Avenues. Than continue at Biertuempfel Park with the Summer Concert Series starting at 7:30 p.m. The fireworks start at 9:00 p.m.at the Garden State Fireworks. The rain date for the fireworks is July 5th. If it rains that night the concert will be moved to the Hannah Caldwell School Auditorium and it will start at 7:30 p.m.
