Woodland Park Police Officer Charged with Receiving Pay for Work Not Performed

Woodland Park

The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office arrested then charged a 46-year-old Woodland Park Police Officer with theft today.

Authorities say Thomas Bolen was charged with one count of third-degree Theft in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:20-3.

Authorities placed the charge on a summons.

Theft in the third degree carries a maximum term of five (5) years in New Jersey State Prison.

Authorities say the alleged theft occurred on or about April 1, 2016, through on or about December 2, 2016, from the Borough of Woodland Park where Mr. Bolen was employed as a police officer in the Woodland Park Police Department during that time period authorities said.

It is alleged that Bolen received compensation from the Borough for work he did not perform, and that the value of that compensation exceeded $500.00 but was less than $75,000.00.

The investigation in this matter remains ongoing.

A criminal complaint is merely an accusation. Despite this accusation, the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
