An unidentified woman was struck and killed by a freight train this morning in the border of Piscataway and South Plainfield.
According to borough officials, the accident occurred sometime around 6 a.m. on the New Brunswick Avenue extension.
It is unclear at this time, how or why woman ended on the tracks.
According to a spokesman for Norfolk Southern, the train was headed west to Fairlane, Ohio prior to accident.
Two crew members - onboard the train - did not suffer any injuries, according to spokesman.
Incident remains under investigation.
