Woman Shot in Newark's West Ward; Man Gunned Down in the North Ward

Police officials in Newark are looking into two separate shootings that injured residents in the city Wednesday and Friday.

According to a preliminary investigation, police responded to reports of shots fired at the Bradley Court Housing development located on Munn and Tremont avenues at approximately 10:17 p.m. Wednesday.

Police arrived and found the female victim suffering a bullet wound in her leg, according to police. The victim was transported to Univesity Hospital, where doctors provide emergency surgery.

She is expected to make a full recovery.

In the other shooting incident, officials at University Hospital contacted police when a male gunshot victim entered the emergency department suffering gunshot injuries around 2:10 p.m.

The victim told police that the shooting occurred in the vicinity of Roseville and 6th avenues today.

Residents in the area said police set up a crime scene where they searched for evidence at that location.

Police say no suspects have been arrested in either incident.
