A woman who tried to flee as two men approached was beaten and robbed overnight.
Police responded to 18th Street and Avenue A sometime around 12:30 a.m. for a report of a robbery.
Upon arrival, police spoke with a Bayonne woman who told them that she was approached by two men who demanded her to hand over her belonging. As she attempted to flee one of the men grabbed her and struck her in the face several times with a handgun, while the second suspect rummaged through her belongings.
According to reports, the two suspects fled in a black two-door Honda.
The victim was transported to Bayonne Medical Center emergency room for treatment.
