The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office has taken over the investigation into a fatal shooting that left a man dead Sunday night in North Bergen.
Details surrounding the incident remain limited as authorities continue their investigation.
North Bergen police responded to reports of a shooting in the area of 1305 Paterson Plank Road shortly before 11 p.m.
When officers arrived, they located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound.
Authorities say the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Initial reports indicate that a white BMW was seen fleeing the area following the shooting, though investigators have not released any suspect information or a description of the vehicle’s occupants.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office and North Bergen Police Department continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the homicide. 
Additional information is expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
