Woman Injured in Elizabeth Stabbing; School Placed on Temporary Shelter-in-Place Status

Police in Elizabeth are investigating a stabbing that seriously injured a man in the city and locked down several schools on Tuesday morning.

According to Elizabeth Police, at around 7:40 a.m., police responded to reports of an injured person in the vicinity of Florida Street. 

Upon arrival, police found a female suffering stab wounds after a domestic dispute with an unidentified male who fled the scene. 

Elizabeth Police said the woman was rushed to University Hospital in Newark for treatment and remained in critical but stable condition. 

Soon after, the suspect was apprehended, breaking into a neighbor's house. 

The incident placed Schools #7, #15, and #25 on a shelter in place status but has since been reopened, according to Elizabeth Police. 

The incidentt is under investigation.
