Woman Found Dead With Multiple Lacerations in Somerville

Authorities in Somerset County are investigating the death of a 46-year-old woman who was found with multiple lacerations inside a Somerville residence Thursday evening.

According to information released by Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, officers responded to a Brookside Avenue residence at approximately 7:26 p.m. on August 6 after receiving a 911 call expressing concern for the welfare of a female resident.
 

When officers arrived, they located the woman suffering from multiple lacerations to her chest, neck and thigh.

 

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

Authorities have not publicly identified the woman, describing her only as a 46-year-old Somerville resident.

 

Detectives from the Somerville Police Department and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes and Crime Scene Investigations units responded to conduct the investigation. 

Medical investigators from the New Jersey Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office also responded.
 

Officials said a postmortem examination will be conducted to positively identify the woman and determine the cause and manner of her death.
 

Investigators are working to identify the person or persons who may have been involved and determine a possible motive. 

No arrests or suspect information were announced.
