The Essex County Prosecutor's Office is investigating the death of a middle-aged woman who was found dead inside her home in Newark on Saturday.
Police were called to the 100 block of Dayton Street before 3:30 p.m. to investigate reports of an injured person.
According to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, upon officers arrival, they found Ms. Nellie Marquez, 55, unconscious and unresponsive inside the residence.
Medical personnel pronounced Ms. Marquez dead at the scene according to the prosecutor's office.
The State Regional Medical Examiners Office will provide the official cause of Ms. Marquez's death, but according to The Essex County Prosecutor's Office, a preliminary investigation indicates she died from blunt force trauma.
There are no arrests made at this time according to the prosecutor's office.
