According to a statement released by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, Tima J. Asp, 31, of Lodi, was pronounced deceased on Wednesday, a day after the crash occurred.

Authorities said the incident happened just before 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of South Summit and West Pleasantview avenues in Hackensack.

Preliminary information indicates that Asp was walking in a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a school bus that was attempting to make a left turn.

Emergency responders rushed Asp to a nearby hospital with serious injuries following the collision. Despite medical efforts, officials confirmed that she later died from those injuries.

Investigators said the driver of the bus, which is operated by J&W Financial, remained at the scene and fully cooperated with responding authorities.
