Woman, Child Rescued From Two-Alarm Paterson House Fire

Paterson

Two good Samaritans rescued a mother and a child from a house fire that erupted in Paterson on Monday evening.

Firefighters were called to the 40's block of Paterson Avenue at approximately 5 p.m. after they received reports of a fire with possible trapped occupants.

Crews arrived at the scene and found heavy flames coming from the rear of a 3-story wood framed house according to fire officials.

Firefighters activated a second alarm when flames began to extend to neighboring homes.

Two males who witnessed seeing smoke coming from the house jumped into action and retrieved a woman and child who were in the process of trying to get out of the burning structure.

Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control in under an hour with two crew members suffering minor injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
