Woman Charged with Newark Arson

New Jersey

Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray announced today that Felicia White, 34, of Newark has been charged with one count of second degree arson for setting a fire at 748 Bergen Street in Newark on July 8th.

It is alleged that White and her boyfriend got into an argument that resulted in her torching a mattress in the abandoned building where they had been squatting. Yesterday she was charged with second degree arson, according to Assistant Prosecutor Brian Pollock, who is handling the case.

No one was injured in the fire but there was substantial damage to two rooms on the second floor of the building where the fire started. The investigation is active an ongoing. These are accusations.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
