Woman Charged as Getaway Driver in Clifton Bank Robbery

A 30-year-old Clifton woman has been charged as the driver of a getaway car used in a bank robbery last month.

Detective Sgt. Robert Bracken said Stephanie Colon was arrested this morning in connection with the Nov. 10 robbery of a Capital One branch on Ackerman Avenue. She was remanded to Passaic County jail in lieu of $15,000 bail.

According to police, Francesco Carisi, walked into the Ackerman Avenue bank and handed a note to the teller demanding money. After further investigation, authorities connected Carisi to the vehicle used in the robbery. He was arrested on Nov. 15, after he checked himself into Bergen Regional Medical Center for unspecified medical reasons.

He was charged with robbery and has been remanded to the Passaic County jail in lieu of $75,000 bail with no 10-percent option.
