Authorities are searching for a suspect who violently attacked a woman during a robbery in Jersey City early Friday morning, officials said.
The incident happened shortly before 4:25 a.m. near the intersection of Summit Avenue and North Street.
Responding officers were advised of an armed robbery in progress and, upon arrival, found a female victim suffering from a serious nose injury.
According to police, the suspect approached the woman, announced a robbery, and demanded her personal belongings.
Just before stealing her purse, the suspect struck her in the face before fleeing the scene.
The victim was treated at the scene by medical professionals and is expected to recover. 
The suspect remains at large as the investigation continues.
