Wintry Mix Brings Icy Start, Rough Morning Conditions in Newark

Hey, happy Tuesday NJ! As we inch closer to Christmas, we’re waking up to cold but above-freezing temperatures across Newark and the North Jersey region.

It’s currently 38 degrees, and while conditions are dry around 4:30 a.m., that won’t last long. 

Rough weather is expected as the morning goes on, bringing a wintry mix. 

Icy conditions are possible early, with snow transitioning over to rain. Winds will also make it feel colder at times due to wind chills.

 

According to the National Weather Service, rain and snow are expected before 2 p.m., followed by a chance of rain between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. 

 

The high will be near 40 degrees, with a south wind between 5 and 7 mph. The chance of precipitation is 100%, with around an inch of new snow accumulation possible.

 

Tuesday night will be partly cloudy, with temperatures holding steady around 38 degrees.

Winds will shift west at 6 to 10 mph, with gusts reaching up to 28 mph.
