Good morning and happy Sunday.
We’re starting the day above the freezing mark, and while temperatures will slowly warm up as the day goes on, it won’t quite feel that way.
Gusty winds will keep wind chills on the cold side, making conditions feel much more frigid than the thermometer suggests.
If you’re heading out this morning — especially to a house of worship anywhere across Newark and the North Jersey region — you’ll definitely want to grab a warm coat.
The good news is we’re staying dry, with clearing skies and some sunshine expected as the day progresses.
As of this morning, it’s 36 degrees at Broadway and Bloomfield Avenue in Newark’s North Ward.
Temperatures will rise into the low to mid-40s, but southwest winds gusting between 20 and 25 miles per hour will keep it feeling chilly throughout the day.
According to the National Weather Service, skies will remain cloudy through mid-morning before gradually clearing.
The high temperature is expected to reach near 44 degrees. Winds will shift from the southwest to the northwest during the afternoon, with gusts potentially reaching up to 29 miles per hour.
Tonight, skies will be mostly clear, with temperatures dropping to around 26 degrees. Wind chill values will make it feel closer to 20 to 25 degrees overnight.
Have a great Sunday, New Jersey and stay warm.
