Good morning, New Jersey, and welcome to the second half of the weekend!
If you’re up with us around 5 a.m. preparing to head out for Sunday service at your house of worship, you’ll definitely want to grab the umbrella. Rain has started moving into the Newark and North Jersey region, setting us up for a wet Sunday.
Temperatures in downtown Newark are around 63 degrees early this morning, giving us a cool start after the beautiful weather we enjoyed Saturday.
Today might be the perfect day to take it easy after church, get comfortable and enjoy some Sunday football indoors.
Rain will be the big weather story, with periods of heavier rainfall potentially causing localized flooding and travel disruptions.
According to the National Weather Service, rain is expected throughout the day, with thunderstorms also possible after 5 p.m. The high will reach around 69 degrees with southeast winds of 8 to 10 mph.
The chance of precipitation is 100%, with between a quarter and a half-inch of rainfall possible.
Tonight, periods of rain and a possible thunderstorm are expected before 11 p.m., followed by additional rain. Temperatures will fall to around 59 degrees, with another quarter to half-inch of rainfall possible.
Give yourself some extra time on the roads, keep that umbrella nearby, and watch for areas of standing water.
