A West Orange man will spend decades in federal prison after being sentenced for exploiting multiple minors online and paying for explicit images and videos, federal authorities announced.

According to information released by U.S. Attorney Robert Frazer, Nabeen Leigh Singha, 39, of West Orange, was sentenced on October 13 to 50 years in federal prison for offenses involving the production, receipt, and possession of explicit images of minors.

The sentence was imposed by U.S. District Court Chief Judge RenĂ©e M. Bumb in Camden federal court.

Singha was also ordered to serve 10 years of supervised release following his prison term.

Federal prosecutors said the investigation uncovered a pattern of online exploitation involving several minor victims between July 2021 and March 2022.

During that period, Singha exchanged explicit messages with two minors and provided them with money in exchange for creating and sending explicit photographs and videos of themselves over the internet.

Authorities said Singha also communicated with another individual who acted as an intermediary, paying that person to provide explicit images and videos involving four additional minors.

The investigation led federal agents to search and seize Singha's cellphone, where they discovered a substantial collection of illegal material.

According to court records, investigators recovered nearly 5,000 images and approximately 620 videos depicting the exploitation of minors, including victims younger than 12 years old.

Federal officials credited special agents and members of the Homeland Security Investigations Child Exploitation Group, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Michael S. McCarthy, for conducting the investigation.

The case highlights federal law enforcement efforts to investigate online exploitation and hold individuals accountable for offenses involving minors.
