West New York Teacher Charged with Explicit Crimes Involving Juvenile

Authorities in Hudson County announced that on Tuesday, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested a West New York Middle School teacher after investigating explicit crimes involving a juvenile.

According to Hudson County officials, Juan Sanchez Moya, 26, of Union City, is charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Distributing Obscene Material to a Person Under 18.

He was arrested at his residence and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance, Hudson County authorities stated.

The 17-year-old victim reported meeting the defendant through an online gaming program, HCPO officials say.

Hudson County authorities stated that the investigation found the defendant exchanged sexually explicit material with the victim.

The crimes did not occur at the West New York Middle School, and the victim is not a student in the district, according to Hudson County officials.
