Weather Alert: Heavy Rain Expected, Travel Advisory Issued in Newark, North Jersey Region

A travel advisory has been issued due to impending heavy rainfall, marking today as an AccuWeather alert day in Newark and The North Jersey Region. AHAAs we wake up to cloudy skies, the National Weather Service warns of significant downpours expected to begin after lunchtime, posing a risk of flooding in some areas across the region.

According to The National Weather Service, today's forecast includes rain, primarily after 2 p.m., with the potential for heavy rainfall at times.

Patchy fog may linger until around 10 a.m., with temperatures reaching a high near 53 degrees.

Winds will start calm but are forecasted to become northeast around six mph in the afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 90%, with new rainfall amounts predicted between a half and three-quarters of an inch.

Tonight, rain is expected to continue, particularly before midnight, with the possibility of heavy rainfall persisting.

Temperatures will remain steady at around 51 degrees throughout the evening.
