Police recovered a weapon and detained one person in a shots-fired incident in Newark's West Ward Sunday.
Gunfire rang out in the area of 777 Sanford Avenue around 4:30 a.m., prompting a police investigation.
Officers arrived and found shell casings and a potential suspect at that location.
No serious injuries were immediately reported.
The motive for the gunfire has not been determined at this time.
