Utility crews are responding to a water main break that caused roadway flooding overnight in a section of Paterson, officials said.

The break occurred in the area of Main Street and River Street, where water began pouring from the damaged main late Monday night.
Police arrived on scene around 11:45 p.m. and quickly shut down the roadway due to flooding and safety concerns.
Authorities closed Main Street in front of the bridge, affecting travel between Main Street, River Street, and Bridge Street.
Motorists are being advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes while repairs are underway.
Utility crews remain on scene as repairs continue. No estimated time for reopening has been announced.
