Water Main Break Closes Newark Downtown Street

Newark

A significant water main break that erupted on a block in Newark's downtown had police closed the street to traffic for repairs.

The break occurred in the single digit block of Hill Street shortly before 4 a.m. sending police and firefighters to the scene where they observed heavy flooding conditions at that location.

Residents in the New Community Douglas Homes reported no running water when they awoke due to water flowing from the ground outside their building.

Expect closures on Hill Street from Broad to Washington street as utility crews attempt the second repair of the main that occurred this year.
