Warrant Issued for Newark Burglary Suspect

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Shawn Brown, 51, of Newark, on a charge of burglary that occurred on April 5th.

According to authorities, at approximately 7:50 p.m., police responded to the 100 block of Weequahic Avenue on a call of a burglary.

Upon arrival, police spoke with the victim who told them that his work van had been broken into and various tools were stolen, including a blower, nail gun, staple gun, hammer, construction belt and other tools.

Detectives investigating this incident identified Shawn Brown as a suspect and secured a warrant for his arrest.   

Police describe Brown as 6’6” tall, 220 lbs., has medium brown complexion, brown eyes and a bald head.

While police are actively searching for Brown, also known as “Lateef”, they seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing him from the streets.

This investigation is ongoing.
