Warrant Issued for Jersey City Homicide Suspect

An arrest warrant has been issued for Damien Morgan, 31, of Jersey City, in connection with the November 18, 2019 murder of Davon Deloach.

He has also been charged with attempted murder in a separate incident which occurred earlier that day.

Morgan has been charged with Murder in violation of N.J.S.A 2C:11-3, a first-degree crime; Possession of a Weapon (Firearm) for an Unlawful Purpose in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4; a second-degree crime; and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (Firearm) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5, a second-degree crime.

Police say on November 18, 2019, at approximately 10:25 p.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department received a report of shots fired in the area of Fulton Avenue in Jersey City. Upon arrival, responding officers found a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso near 39 Fulton Avenue.

The victim, later identified as Davon Deloach, 30, of Jersey City, was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center. He was pronounced dead at approximately 1:00 a.m.

According to police, on November 19, 2019. The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the Cause of death to be a multiple gunshot wounds and the Manner of death to be homicide.

At the time of the incident, Morgan was identified as the man who suffered from a non-life threatening gunshot wound to one of his lower extremities during the incident.

He was discovered on Van Cleef Street in Jersey City a short time after the shooting occurred. Morgan was transported by EMS to Jersey City Medical Center. He was treated for his injuries and released.

Morgan has also been charged in an unrelated shooting incident that occurred on November 18, 2019, at approximately 5:50 p.m., in the area of 13 Fulton Avenue in Jersey City. Morgan was charged with Attempted Murder in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5-1 and 2C:11-3; Possession of a Weapon (Firearm) for an Unlawful Purpose in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4; a second-degree crime; and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (Firearm) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5, a second-degree crime.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating these cases.
