Warm, Sunny Friday Sends Newark Into the 80s Before Fall Returns Saturday

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

We are off to a great start this Friday with a cool and comfortable morning as we close out the workweek across Newark and the New Jersey region.

Good morning, Jersey, and TGIF to you all!

As we head out around 4:30 this morning, it is currently 71 degrees in downtown Newark. If you have a chance, open up those windows and enjoy some of that morning breeze because today is shaping up to be the pick of the week.

Summer is not quite finished with us yet. Temperatures will climb into the 80s this afternoon, bringing us a warm and somewhat humid Friday, so you may want to hold off on those sweaters for now.

Around the state this morning, Morristown is at 61 degrees, Somerville is at 59, Edison is at 66, Sussex County is around 59, and Passaic County is waking up at 67 degrees.

Enjoy the warmth while it lasts because Saturday will bring us right back to more fall-like weather.

According to the National Weather Service, today will be mostly sunny with a high near 84 degrees. There is a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5 p.m., with southwest winds of 6 to 11 mph and gusts as high as 21 mph.

Tonight, showers and thunderstorms will remain possible before 11 p.m., followed by a slight chance of showers through about 2 a.m. Skies will gradually become partly cloudy, with a low around 60 degrees.

It’s going to be a beauty today, Jersey, so make sure you enjoy it.

Have a great Friday and a wonderful start to your weekend!
