Newark

Newark and the North Jersey region are waking up to another warm and slightly humid morning on this second day of autumn.
At 4:30 a.m., temperatures hovered around 73 degrees, making it feel more like mid-summer than early fall.

Residents stepping outside for the morning commute will notice the sticky air, but conditions will stay mostly manageable through the day.

According to the National Weather Service, skies will remain mostly cloudy, with a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms developing after 2 p.m.

Temperatures are expected to reach near 80 degrees, with light winds shifting southeast.

Forecasters say tonight will bring a stronger chance of rainfall, with showers and thunderstorms likely after 8 p.m.

Temperatures will dip only slightly, settling at a mild 68 degrees overnight.

While Wednesday holds onto the warmth, residents are being advised to enjoy it, because Thursday is expected to bring a much wetter day across the region.
