We are waking up warm and a tad humid on this Friday morning as New Jersey and the nation commemorate the lives lost in the September 11 attacks 25 years ago today.
Good morning, New Jersey, and welcome to Friday.
It is currently 75 degrees in downtown Newark at 4:30 a.m., and for those heading out to one of the dozens of memorial ceremonies taking place across the region, including the nation’s largest observance at Ground Zero in Lower Manhattan, expect a warm but mainly dry day.
Around the state this morning, temperatures are at 63 degrees in Morristown, 65 in Somerville, 72 in Trenton, 77 in Toms River, 69 in Sparta and 72 in Passaic County.
According to the National Weather Service, there is a chance of a few sprinkles before 8 a.m., followed by mostly sunny skies with a high near 81 degrees. North winds will range from 7 to 11 mph.
Tonight will be mostly clear, with temperatures dropping to around 61 degrees.
So, Jersey, we have plenty of sunshine ahead for this solemn day of remembrance.
As we go about our Friday, we pause to remember those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and salute the first responders, families and communities forever impacted by that tragic day.
