Newark and the North Jersey region are waking up to warm, dry, and pleasant conditions as Independence Day approaches, setting the stage for a festive and travel-friendly Wednesday.

As of early Thursday morning, temperatures in downtown Newark are holding steady at a comfortable 75 degrees, with clear skies and calm breezes creating an ideal start to the day.
While the morning remains dry, residents are advised to keep an umbrella nearby as the afternoon could bring scattered showers and thunderstorms.
According to the National Weather Service, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m., with temperatures climbing to a high near 91 degrees.
Winds will shift westward at 5 to 9 mph during the afternoon.
Tonight, there remains a 30 percent chance of early evening showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 8 p.m., followed by mostly clear skies and an overnight low around 69 degrees.
While brief rain is possible, forecasters say it won’t be a washout, offering welcome news for those heading out early for Fourth of July travel or festivities.
