Violent Newark South Ward Home Invasion Results in Four Injuries

Police in Newark detained two potential suspects who were involved in a violent South Ward home invasion robbery that sent four people to the hospital early Saturday morning.

Authorities have not yet released much information on the incident, but according to preliminary reports, at approximately 4:37 a.m., police units were dispatched to an apartment on the 3rd floor inside the multi-family building located at 22 West Runyon Street.

Units were advised that two black male suspects reportedly kicked in a door inside the building then began to attack residents inside.

First responding officers swiftly arrived and immediately requested EMS after they found four people suffering injuries at that location. Police say the suspects attacked two of the injured while the other two victims were somehow injured while the incident unfolded.

None of the injured were reported as life-threatening and it is not clear if the incident is domestic.
