There is an active investigation and search for a suspect responsible for an assault that hospitalized a male in Newark during the overnight hours.
According to preliminary reports, police requested EMS on a rush to the 600 block of Marke Street after they found a male victim in a pool of blood and suffering severe injuries after someone attacked him at that location.
EMS rushed the victim to University Hospital where doctors began treatment of serious injuries.
A crime scene unit was requested to the hospital to take pictures of the victim's injuries according to reports.
There are no reports of arrests.
