UPDATE: Video Shows High Speed Pursuit, Crash that Injured Juvenile in Newark

A violent crash caught on surveillance video has the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Crash Response Team and the Professional Standards Bureau investigating.

According to a spokesperson for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, officers from the Newark Police Department pursued a vehicle early Friday morning that refused to stop for traffic violations in the area of Washington and Market Street at around 4 a.m.

The fleeing vehicle sped away from officers reaching high rates of speed when they headed eastbound on South Orange Ave. authorities said.

Surveillance video shows the white minivan lose control then overturn on it's side, striking a building on South Orange Ave. and South 10th Street. When the vehicle up-righted, two people quickly exited from the vehicle then ran from the scene with police nearby.

Two juveniles were chased down by police and arrested nearby according to the spokesperson. Both suspects were charged with receiving stolen property and resisting arrest.

One of the juveniles was taken to the hospital with serious injuries to his arm a spokesperson for the prosecutor's office said.

Their names were not released because of their ages.
