Mayor Fulop said the incident happened on Bostwick Avenue on Tuesday, May 5 when officers began to use force during a takedown of a male who reportedly would not comply with Governor Murphy's social distancing order.

The video shows an officer wrestling on the ground with a suspect -in an attempt to make an arrest- while at least one other officer swung his baton, striking the suspect when he gained control and had the officer pinned on his back during the engagement that lasted several minutes.

There were no severe injuries reported and the incident remains under investigation.
