Victims Attacked in Newark Central Ward Armed Carjacking

Newark Police officials request the public’s help in locating the vehicle, which was carjacked in the Central Ward on Tuesday.  

Police said at approximately 8:50 p.m., a driver and passenger arrived at the 200 block of West Kinney Street to purchase a cell phone from a male online seller.

According to police the victims exited their vehicle, a white 4-door 2013 BMW 328is, and were assaulted by the male and two other male suspects who approached the victims.

Police say the three suspects entered the victim’s vehicle and drove away, heading westbound on West Kinney Street.

The victims were transported to University Hospital for treatment and released.

Detectives investigating this incident seek the public’s help in quickly locating the carjacked vehicle and identifying the suspects.

The initial suspect is described as 6’4” tall with a muscular build and a light complexion. He was wearing a skull cap and no face mask.
