Victim Stabbed in Lakewood Armed Carjacking

Lakewood Township

Officers Nicholas Romeo and Derek McAvoy were dispatched to respond to a home security alarm at an East Spruce Street home.

Upon arrival, the Officers observed what appeared to be blood on the front porch.

Officials say while trying to locate a potential victim, Officer Tymur Zavalnyuk was sent to Monmouth Medical Southern Campus after an unidentified male arrived with an apparent stab wound.

The Officers quickly linked to the two events together and established the appropriate crime scenes for further investigation.

According to the victim, a 24-year-old Lakewood man, he had just arrived at a friend's home on East Spruce Street when three men wearing ski masks approached him.

Two of the suspects were described as approximately 5'5" and chunky, the other, as 5'10'-5'11" and thin police said.

All three approached the driver side door of his black 2007 BMW, New Jersey registration J96-GXJ, and forcefully removed him.

Officials say he stated that a struggle ensued, in which, he sustained a large laceration to the side of his head and at least two, non-life-threatening stab wounds to his chest.

The suspects then entered the BMW and sped off in an unknown direction. The 24-year-old victim was able to locate his friend who then transported him to the hospital.

"At this time the investigation is active and the unknown suspects are considered to be armed and dangerous and the vehicle has not been recovered."

If you should see the vehicle, DO NOT approach it or its occupants. Call 9-1-1 immediately. Anyone with information regarding the case is urged to contact Officer Kevin Martin at 732-363-0200 ext. 5340
